Gym Class Heroes ft. Lil' wayne-Don't tell me it's over

Artist:Gym Class Heroes ft. Lil' wayne
Album:As Cruel As School Children
Writer: Travis Mccoy

All press is good press kids
So if you wanna see us gone
Then I suggest you keep our name out of your headlines
Unless you wanna mess that is
Your best bet is to set your dirty laundry separate from the clean before your deadline
Admit it you wanted to be an artist
But your parents and that tiny voice inside you said it wasn't worth the hardships
What better way to compensate then to hate on everything you wish you were
But didn't have the balls to harness
Pop culture's my trip, somehow you think your gonna stop us
Cuz you flirted with a chick who's got my tongue in her esophagus
Bitches post anonymous
We shat on 07, 08 is gonna be great imagine 2011
Give me one good reason I shouldn't dead this debate
Don't worry I'll wait....
That's the fuck I thought
Cat got your tongue
Next time get your facts right
Google me and act right

(Chorus)
How can I be
Be without your hate
It gives me peace of mind
So please don't tell me its over
Don't tell me its over
Its your hate that keeps me believing
That we're the greatest of all time
So please don't tell me its over
Don't tell me its over
Don't tell me its over
Because I can't bare to see you go
See you go
Don't tell me its over
Because I can't bare to see you go
See you go

(Travis)
Hey Mr. Internet
To whom it may piss off, yea you and you
Here's a list of {crap} you didn't know but now you do
Exploit my bad habits
Tell them I do drugs
Tell them Travi smokes more crack than Tyrone Biggums does
Tell them I can't rap
Tell them I dumb it down
Tell them not to buy tickets whenever my band's in town
Tell them I sold out, say I did it for the fame
And how I buy magazines for the sake of seeing my name
Tell them I how frequent parties trying to get that page 6
Tell them so and so said so and so saw pictures of my dick
Make me out to be an asshole that don't deserve his fans
Make me more insecure than I already am
Kick dirt on my accomplishments if you're ever bored
Just document it well and don't forget to hit record
One hit wonder my ass, what are you talking about
Let them keep bogging trash im gonna take the garbage out

(Chorus) w/ Lil Wayne ad-libs
How can I be
Be without your hate
It gives me peace of mind
So please don't tell me its over
Don't tell me its over
Its your hate that keeps me believing
That we're the greatest of all time
So please don't tell me its over

Don't tell me its over
Don't tell me its over
Because I can't bare to see you go
See you go
Don't tell me its over
Because I cant bare to see you go
See you go

(Lil Wayne)
Say the [freaking] baby
Never been fake and they are clayer than Aiken
And I don't play though, and they love to hate it
And I love it, and I would hate to not be hated
Hate cuz I'm ahead so much so my drop be hating
License plate reads hating
Eat my dust
Just hate us
Hata, hata, hata I love you so much

(Chorus) w/ Lil Wayne ad-libs

How can I be
Be without your hate
It gives me peace of mind
So please don't tell me its over
Don't tell me its over
Its your hate that keeps me believing
That we're the greatest of all time
So please don't tell me its over
Don't tell me its over
Don't tell me its over
Because I can't bare to see you go
See you go
Don't tell me its over
Because I cant bare to see you go
See you go.

504684633538568022.jpgYo heh heh tell him it's like uhh you know uhh

Sweet sweet SWEET tell him

Let me be patient let me be kind
Make me unselfish without being blind
Though I may suffer I'll envy it not
And endure what comes
Cause he's all that I got and
tell him...

Tell him I need him [yeah]
Tell him I love him [tell him]
And it'll be alright
*Background singing* Telll himmm be alright be alright
Tell him tell him I need him
Tell him I love him
It'll be alright

Now I may have faith to make mountains fall
But if I lack love then I am nothin' at all
I can give away everything I possess
But left without love then I have no happiness
I know I'm imperfect [I know I'm imperfect]
& not without sin [& not without sin]
But now that I'm older all childish things end
and tell him...

Tell him I need him [yeah]
Tell him I love him [tell him]
And it'll be alright
*Background singing* Telll himmm be alright be alright
Tell him tell him I need him
Tell him I love him
It'll be alright

Bridge
I'll never be jealous
And I won't be too proud
Cause love is not boastful
Oooh and love is not loud
Tell him I need him
Tell him I love him
Everything's gonna be alright [w/ adlibs]
ieee iee ieee iee iee iee iee iee

Now I may have wisdom and knowledge on Earth
But if I speak wrong then what is it worth?
See what we now know is nothing compared
to the love that was shown when our lives were spared
and tell him...

Tell him I need him [yeah]
Tell him I love him [tell him]
And it'll be alright
*Background singing* Telll himmm be allright be alright
Tell him tell him I need him
Tell him I love him
It'll be alright

The second verse in this song is the best because it say's no matter how much you believe if u have no love you have nothing. It goes on to say that if you were to give up all that you have and you're left without love you'll have no happiness. The love that is talked about is the Godly love the unconditional and everlasting love no matter what happens. She says that she knows that she's imperfect and not without sin... meaning that we are human and we are going to make mistakes but now that we are older childish things should end. We shouldn't make foolish mistakes anymore because we know better and with old age comes more knowledge and wisdom.

This song is worthy to go in hip-hop history because its hip- hop but religious at the same time. It's like a prayer with beat and tune all in one and that's what makes this so awesome. It makes people look at loving God and being thankful for your blessing in a knew light, if Lauryn's doing it then it must be cool. People start becoming lovers of God without being embarrassed about it.

The message in the song is to keep in mind everything is possible through God if you ask Him and and wait. All it takes is for you to believe and continue to Tell Him that you Love and need Him.

Trey Songz - Successful

Successful - written by : Trey Songs(Tremaine Aldon Neverson ) and Drake(Aubrey Drake Graham)
CD - Ready
I want the money, money and the cars, cars and the clothes
I suppose
I just wanna be, I just wanna be successful
I just wanna be, I just wanna be successful
I just wanna be, I just wanna be successful

Ahh yeah Trey I fuckin' feel ya
They be starin' at the money ilike its unfamilar
I get it, I live it to me there's nothing realer
Just enough'll solve your problems
Too much'll kill ya
And when I leave I always come right back here
The young spitter that everybody in rap fear
Alotta y'all is still soundin' like last year
The game needs change and I'm the mothafuckin' cashier
Nickel for my thoughts, dimes in my bed
Quarters of the kush shape the lines in my head
Take my verses too serious and you'll hate me
'Cause I'm the one to paint a vivid picture no HD
I want it all that's why I strive for it
Diss me and you'll never hear a reply for it
Any award show or party I get fly for it
I know that it's coming I just hope that I'm alive for it

I want the money, money and the cars, cars and the clothes
I suppose
I just wanna be, I just wanna be successful
I just wanna be, I just wanna be successful
I just wanna be, I just wanna be successful

I want the money, money, money I want a whole lot of that
All the honeys they askin' where the dollars at
Where yo' head at, tell me 'bout your styling cap
Tryna find a way but u never got a map
Dream chaser, risk taker
No favor, though haters
They might want me to drown
Holdin' me down
But the throne and the crown
Is all I ever wanted, all I ever needed
If I'm the only one and don't nobody else believe it
Then keep it a secret and watch me achieve it
'Cause I know what I want now
So if you want the money
If you gotta make
If you the only one and don t nobody else believe it
Then tell em to beat it
And watch you achieve it
Sing it if you want

I want the money, money and the cars, cars and the clothes
I suppose
I just wanna be, I just wanna be successful
I just wanna be, I just wanna be successful
I just wanna be, I just wanna be successful

Yeah, I want things top go my way
But as of late alotta shit been goin' sidewqays
And my mother tried to run away from home
But I left something in the car
So I caught her in the driveway
And she cried to me, so I cried too
And my stomach was soakin' wet, she only 5'2"
And 40 that was all before I showed up
And brought a thousand dollars worth of drinks and got poured up
Damn, my reality just set in
And even when the Phantom's leased them hoes wanna get in
I do alot of things hopin' I never have to fit in
So tryna keep up with my progress is like a dead end
My girl love me, but fuck it my heart beats slow
And right now the tour bus is looking like a freak show
And life change for us every single week so
It's good but I hope this ain't the peak though
'Cause I want the

I want the money, money and the cars, cars and the clothes
I suppose
I just wanna be, I just wanna be successful
I just wanna be, I just wanna be successful
I just wanna be, I just wanna be successful

The overall message of this song, to me, is that Trey and Drake wants to have a successful life. Yes they want all the material things and they want to be up there with everyone else, they just want to be successful at the same time.
The fav lines of mine are Trey Songz's lines, "They might want me to drown Holdin' me down But the throne and the crown Is all I ever wanted, all I ever needed If I'm the only one and don't nobody else believe it Then keep it a secret nd watch me achieve it 'Cause I know what I want now". He is talking about people who are against him try what they can to make sure that he does not succeed. Even though they are doing their best to stop him from gaining success, the big dreams that he has wont let the 'haters' get in his way. If he is the only person to beleive that he can reach success, then he is going to keep it to his self and achieve those goals on his own without their help.I think that this song should go down in HipHop history because even though people are trying to knock drake's and trey songz's hustle, they still remain positive and is going to do what they can to reach the top. Then they goes on to say that if you want something, go ahead and get it. if someone is trying to stop you, tell them to get out your way and watch you achieve your goals. This song could be used as a motivater because some people might need to hear these lyrics to help them believe in theirselves. This song can help them turn negativity into positivity.
I feel as though this song is important because it is telling people to keep their head up when it comes to their dreams and goals. If you dont keep your head up and attitude positive, you wont achieve those dreams and goals. Yes there will always be someone there to try and stop you, but you have to remain positive and move them out your way so you can get to the top. If you keep believing that you can do it, then it will happen.

Excuse me can I talk to you please
Give me a few minutes then you can leave
I’m a show you who I’m talking to
It may be a lot and it may be few
You know there is a God around
Grandma used to take you to the church downtown
But you were young and Grandma made you do it
Some of ya’ll paid attention some slept right thru it

CHORUS:
It’s time now, no better time than now
For you to turn back to God

Please turn back to God

Life gets so heavy at times
Troubles add up to the mountain high
There’s no way that we can get around them
So put your trust in God and not in men
In your heart you know that God is real
You know that He can save and He can heal
So don’t front on what you know is true
‘Cause right now God is watching you

CHORUS

Just one more verse and then I’m through
I don’t wanna get on your nerves but I am really concerned about you
I want you to make it to heaven
Instead of wasting time down here just having fun
Just look at the signs of the times
Terrorists and wars everywhere not to mention crime
Jesus is coming back so soon
I bet cha heard that from Grandma too

It’s time now, no better time than now (repeat 4 times)
Won’t you please give God a chance
In your life He will enhance……Yeah
No better time than now

Yes I know you’ve had some pain
But turn to God don’t go insane……Yeah
No better time than now

So how long will you live that life
Whatever’s wrong just get it right…..Yeah
No better time than now

Don’t deny the way you feel
God is real YES He’s real….Yeah
No better time than now

a) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nf5E1JN69Dw

1) State the overall message of the song

a) It’s time now to turn your life to god

2) The four lines that I consider to be the very best

a) Life gets so heavy at times

b) Troubles add up to the mountain high

c) There’s no way that we can get around them

d) So put your trust in God and not in men

A) Sometime you can feel thing are not going right for instance you just lost your job the kids acting up in school and your relationship is not going the way someone want.

B) Now you lost your job and you come to find your light, gas and phone been turn off. It’s like one saturation after another.

C) After losing your job you didn’t have any money. The gas company will not turn your gas on without a payment or the light company. Problems in our life seem to find us no matter what we do.

D) The song sayings have faith in god he will never let you down. Because that’s what the bible says. But when a person put trust in men somehow some way they cannot always come through.

This song should go down in hip hop history because the first time I listened to this song it moved me in a way I cannot explain. The things that I was going through made me feel like Tye Tribbett was talking directly to me, which gave me some encouragement about my life. So if this song can give me a better outlook on life then it can be that same support for someone else.

(And I was just kiddin' 'bout them kites folk) Heh, alright folk
(I'm really glad we had a chance to sit it down and rap a tad)
(I admit you had a couple points, sometimes I act a ass)

No record deal, no amount of mil' shall go to my head
(And with that said can't nobody tell us shit, so fuck the hatin')
How many niggaz real enough to stand and give theyself a straightenin'?

"Sing For The Moment" by Eminem

"Sing For The Moment"

[Verse 1]
These ideas are nightmares to white parents
Whose worst fear is a child with dyed hair and who likes earrings
Like whatever they say has no bearing, it's so scary in a house that allows
no swearing
To see him walking around with his headphones blaring
Alone in his own zone, cold and he don't care
He's a problem child
And what bothers him all comes out, when he talks about
His fuckin' dad walkin' out
Cause he just hates him so bad that he blocks him out
If he ever saw him again he'd probably knock him out
His thoughts are whacked, he's mad so he's talkin' back
Talkin' black, brainwashed from rock and rap
He sags his pants, do-rags and a stocking cap
His step-father hit him, so he socked him back, and broke his nose
His house is a broken home, there's no control, he just let's his emotions
go...

[Chorus]
{C'mon}, sing with me, {sing}, sing for the years
{Sing it}, sing for the laughter, sing for the tears, {c'mon)
Sing it with me, just for today, maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you
away...

[Verse 2]
Entertainment is changin', intertwinin' with gangsta's
In the land of the killers, a sinner's mind is a sanctum
Holy or unholy, only have one homie
Only this gun, lonely cause don't anyone know me
Yet everybody just feels like they can relate, I guess words are a
mothafucka they can be great
Or they can degrade, or even worse they can teach hate
It's like these kids hang on every single statement we make
Like they worship us, plus all the stores ship us platinum
Now how the fuck did this metamorphosis happen
From standin' on corners and porches just rappin'
To havin' a fortune, no more kissin' ass
But then these critics crucify you, journalists try to burn you
Fans turn on you, attorneys all want a turn at you
To get they hands on every dime you have, they want you to lose your mind
every time you mad
So they can try to make you out to look like a loose cannon
Any dispute won't hesitate to produce handguns
That's why these prosecutors wanna convict me, strictly just to get me off
of these streets quickly
But all they kids be listenin' to me religiously, so i'm signin' cd's while
police fingerprint me
They're for the judge's daughter but his grudge is against me
If i'm such a fuckin' menace, this shit doesn't make sense Pete
It's all political, if my music is literal, and i'm a criminal how the fuck
can I raise a little girl
I couldn't, I wouldn't be fit to, you're full of shit too, Guerrera, that
was a fist that hit you...

[CHORUS]

[Verse 3]
They say music can alter moods and talk to you
Well can it load a gun up for you , and cock it too
Well if it can, then the next time you assault a dude
Just tell the judge it was my fault and i'll get sued
See what these kids do is hear about us totin' pistols
And they want to get one cause they think the shit's cool
Not knowin' we really just protectin' ourselves, we entertainers
Of course the shit's affectin' our sales, you ignoramus
But music is reflection of self, we just explain it, and then we get our
checks in the mail
It's fucked up ain't it
How we can come from practically nothing to being able to have any fuckin'
thing that we wanted
That's why we sing for these kids, who don't have a thing
Except for a dream, and a fuckin' rap magazine
Who post pin-up pictures on their walls all day long
Idolize they favorite rappers and know all they songs
Or for anyone who's ever been through shit in their lives
Till they sit and they cry at night wishin' they'd die
Till they throw on a rap record and they sit, and they vibe
We're nothin' to you but we're the fuckin' shit in they eyes
That's why we seize the moment try to freeze it and own it, squeeze it and
hold it
Cause we consider these minutes golden
And maybe they'll admit it when we're gone
Just let our spirits live on, through our lyrics that you hear in our
songs and we can...

[CHORUS X2]

The message of this song is how the hip hop influences kids and how it has changed over the years. Eminem talks about how kids take lyrics to the heart and shoyuld understand that he is just an entertainer.

"See what these kids do is hear about us totin' pistols
And they want to get one cause they think the shit's cool
Not knowin' we really just protectin' ourselves, we entertainers
Of course the shit's affectin' our sales, you ignoramus
But music is reflection of self, we just explain it, and then we get our
checks in the mail..."

These lines are saying that kids that listen to the songs dont know what the artist is talking about. The kids think that the entertainer is carring guns for fun when in reality it's for protection. Eminem also states that being a rapper is a job and at the end of the day they get a check.

WHY THIS SONG SHOULD GO DOWN IN HIP-HOP HISTORY

I chose this song beacuse it, unlike other rap songs, has meaning. Eminem talks about why he raps and the ups and downs of being a rapper. This song should go down in hip hop history because it is what hip hop used to be. Eminem speaks to the fans in this song. He talks about how many fans of his are actually young impressionable kids who hang off every word he says.
This is a great song becaues he lets his fans know that everything he says or does shouldn't be imitated. He adresses isues in the hip hop busieness that many other rappers would ignore or go along with. This song has a positive message, great beat and, a catchy chours that everyone can enjoy.

Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song

I heard he sang a good song
I heard he had a style
And so I came to see him
And listen for a while
And there he was this young boy
a stranger to my eyes

Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song

I felt all flushed with fever
Embarrassed by the crowd
I felt he found my letters
And read each one out loud

I prayed that he would finish
But he just kept right on

Oh ah ah oh...
Oh oh oh oh oh ha ha...

La la la la la la...
Oh oh oh la ah ah...

Oh oh oh la ah ah ah ah ah...

Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song

What is the overall message of the song?

To me the message is that the guy in the song was someone she knew, or she could relate to. What he was saying? Either he was trying to tell her about a problem she was familiar with, and he was making a very good point. She had to listen, but she didn't like what was said. She got upset or shy about the situation and decided she didn't want him to continue talking.
Also she felt like he had told everyone else.

The best lines in the song I think are.

I felt all flushed with fever
Embarrassed by the crowd
I felt he found my letters
and read each one out loud
I prayed that he would finish
But he just kept right on

Do I think this song should go down in hip hop history? NO!
I just like the song. Lauryn Hill is a great and talent artist. I do think she should be there among the rest of great hip hop artist. People should remember her for other songs she have made, but to some people this one song will always come to mind when they think of Lauryn Hill.

KILLING ME SOFTLY

All that I got is you

"All I Got Is You"
Ghostface Killah(feat. Mary J. Blige, Poppa Wu)
Album: Ironman

[Intro One: The Education of Sonny Carson]
What dey gives you blood?
Three months man
Whatchu doin in here anyway? You oughta be home with your momma
How old are you boy?
Thirteen
Thirteen? Damn, the bastards must be runnin outta niggaz to arrest

[Intro: Ghostface]
Yeah, ohh yeah, this goes out
to all the families that went through the struggle
Yeah, from the heart
It was from the heart, everything was real

[Mary J.] All that I got is you
And I'm so thankful I made it through

[Ghostface Killah]
Yo, dwellin in the past, flashbacks when I was young
Whoever thought that I'd have a baby girl and three sons
I'm goin through this difficult stage I find it hard to believe
Why my old Earth had so many seeds
But she's an old woman, and due to me I respect that
I saw life for what it's really worth and took a step back
Family ain't family no more, we used to play ball
Eggs after school, eat grits cause we was poor
Grab the pliers for the channel, fix the hanger on the TV
Rockin each others pants to school wasn't easy
We survived winters, snotty nosed with no coats
We kept it real, but the older brother still had jokes
Sadly, daddy left me at the age of six
I didn't know nuttin but mommy neatly packed his shit
She cried, and grandma held the family down
I guess mommy wasn't strong enough, she just went down
Check it, fifteen of us in a three bedroom apartment
Roaches everywhere, cousins and aunts was there
Four in the bed, two at the foot, two at the head
I didn't like to sleep with Jon-Jon he peed the bed
Seven o'clock, pluckin roaches out the cereal box
Some shared the same spoon, watchin saturday cartoons
Sugar water was our thing, every meal was no thrill
In the summer, free lunch held us down like steel
And there was days I had to go to Tex house with a note
Stating "Gloria can I borrow some food I'm dead broke"
So embarrasin I couldn't stand to knock on they door
My friends might be laughin, I spent stamps in stores
Mommy where's the toilet paper, use the newspaper
Look Ms. Rose gave us a couch, she's the neighbor
Things was deep, my whole youth was sharper than cleats
Two brothers with muscular dystrophy, it killed me
But I remember this, mom's would lick her finger tips
To wipe the cold out my eye before school wit her spit
Case worker had her runnin back to face to face
I caught a case, housin tried to throw us out of our place
Sometimes I look up at the stars and analyze the sky
And ask myself was I meant to be here... why?
Yeah, yo

[Chorus: Mary J. Blige]
All that I got is you
And I'm so thankful I made it through
[repeat 4X]

Word up mommy, I love you
Word up
It was all you, word, you brought me in like this

[Mary J. Blige]
I sit and think about
All the times we did without, yeah
I always said I woudn't cry
When I saw tears in your eyes
I understand that daddy's not here now
But some way or somehow, I will always be around, yeah
All things that I did from this to them
Oh from drugs to being there
Being down and out and I love you always

[Poppa Wu]
Yeah, you say
You see the universe, which consists of the sun moon and star
And them planets, that exist in my space
Like man woman and child
You understand?
We got to keep it real, and what reality
and reality will keep it real with us
I remember them good ol days
Because see, that's the child I was
What made me the man I am today
See cause if you forget where you come from, heheh
You're never gonna make it where you're goin, aheh
Because you lost the reality of yourself
So take one stroll through your mind
And see what you will find
And you'll see a whole universe all over again
and again and again and again and again
Heheheh, yeah heheheheh ahaheheheh

I think the overall meaning of the song is anything is possible. He talks about the living conditions in which he used to live when he was younger because of a lack of money and a large family. The situation he describes is real vivid to me and I think that he is trying to give thanks to his mother and grandmother for doing the best that they could for him.
My favorite lines are

"And there was days I had to go to Tex house with a note
Stating "Gloria can I borrow some food I'm dead broke"
So embarrasin I couldn't stand to knock on they door
My friends might be laughin, I spent stamps in stores
Mommy where's the toilet paper, use the newspaper
Look Ms. Rose gave us a couch, she's the neighbor
Things was deep, my whole youth was sharper than cleats
Two brothers with muscular dystrophy, it killed me
But I remember this, mom's would lick her finger tips
To wipe the cold out my eye before school wit her spit"

He's telling the story of the things he used to have to do when they ran out of food and when he bought food how using food stamps made him feel among his peers. Then he talks about running out of the little things in the house that make a difference in how comfortable you feel. Then he talks about his brothers' condition and what his mother did to him before school.
The song shows you can rise from any situation

2pac Keep your Head UP

Writers:2pac Shakur, Stan Vincent, Daryl L. Anderson, Rodger Troutman
Album: 2pac Greatest Hits (1998)
Title:Keep Ya Head Up
Artist: 2pac

The overall message of this song is that African American women are strong beyond their knowledge and can overcome any obstacles put in their way; the writer uses as an example the growing number of single black mothers and how they find a way to make it. He speak to the struggle of the black race as a whole and informs that he understands the struggle of black people and that he cares for his people.

Lyrics: Cause I think we can make it/ In fact I'm sure/ And if you fall stand tall and come back for more/ You can't complain you were dealt this hell of a hand, without a man feeling helpless/ but there's too many things for you to deal with dying inside/ but outside you're looking fearless.

The above lines of 2pac's keep your head up speak to a belief that women can overcome the unfortunate obstacles that have been put in their way;he's sure to inform he's understands her struggle and is not making light of it but he goes on to say she has to overcome because others depend on her. He then goes on to encourage her by impling she's strong because no one can tell that she is hurting.

Chorus:Keep ya head up/ Oooh child things are goona get easier/Ooh child things will get brighter/Keep ya head up/ Ooh ooh child things are goona get easier/ Keep ya head up/ OOOH child things will get brighter

The song Keep Your Head Up by 2pac is extremely important because it sends a positive message. 2pac was a very well known, influential artist. This means that he was able to reach alot of individuals with his work. I feel it was extremly laudable of him to put a positive message in this song because unfortunatly a lot of rappers from his era were choosing to do the opposite. This songs speaks to a struggle that he understands personally and he does a magnificent job of bringing hope to situations that seem impossible to fathom;let alone actually encounter.
He does a wonderful job of speaking to the actual struggles that black women face on a daily basis. It means a lot coming from him because he knew the black community personally. He offers comforting words to the women and makes it a priority to inform black women that they/we are important to him. He goes on to say he cares for them/us and that he realizes they/we should be treated much better then most individuals choose to treat us. He also speaks to the strenth of a black women which in my opinion can't be measured.
This song speaks to multiple issues briefly. It talks about his mom ( a black women) and her strength. He speaks about the "ghetto", abortion, a lack of "real" men in the community, drug use, political issues, women as single parents, jail, death, depression, a conspiracy and other issues. It seems to me that there would be no way to put a positive message in a song so full of extremely harsh circumstances involved; yet 2pac found a way. Throughout the song the message is you can make it, be strong, it will get better, it will get easier, I know it's hard and I understand. Brilliant! Keep your head up is a masterpiece that has the potential to empower any listener. I listen to it often and I must say I'm empowered every time I hear it!

So you won't be lonely
See you at the crossroads(crossroads, crossroads)
So you won't be lonely
See you at the crossroads(crossroads, crossroads)
So you won't be lonely.......

The reason why I picked "The Crossroads" by Bone Thug's N harmony was because it deals with losing someone. When the song came out I was 14 and a freshman is high school, I knew the meaning of the song and what it was about, but didn't really fully grasp it to last year.

Just the chorus See at the Crossroads is profound to me. I know that when it's my time, I will see my mother again. This song should go down in history because simply everyone will lose somebody that they love. The song is telling you that yes the devil is all around you but that God is laways there supporting you and guiding you. That when it's finally your time, you will see your love one again.

Written by:Nicki Minaj

Lyrics courtesy of: metrolyrics.com

[ Verse 1 ]

She said [fu*k] Fendi but I think she was playin'.

She call herself 'Lewinsky' that means she give him brain.
She tryna be like Lil Kim, her picture looks the same .
Why didn't she sign with G-Unit, she from Queens right?
And what's her nationality, she's Chinese right?
I mean she okay, but she ain't all that.
She ain't the next bitch tell that [bi*ch] fall back .
See imma hater I go hard, listen lesbian.
You know her last name Minaj she's a lesbian.
And she ain't never coming out, they could come and see that every time she do an interview I run and see.
She get me so sick it make me vomit .....
That's why I spend my time online leaving comments.
And you know I got some more haters with me Might hit this up with '50'.
MTV hit up BET tell them "pretty pretty please, don't play Nicki"

[ Chorus ]

Still I rise, Still I fight, Still I might crack a smile
Keep my eyes on the prize, see my haters tell 'em hi
One day you'll remember this
One day when we reminisce
Nothing I do ever is,
good enough for the music bizz
Still I rise, Still I fight, Still I might crack a smile
Keep my eyes on the prize, see my haters tell 'em hi
One day you'll remember this
One day when we reminisce
Nothing I do ever is,
good enough for the music bizz
[Nothing I ever do is good for you]

[ Verse 2 ]

[Bi*ches] is like crabs in a bucket,
you see a bad bitch gettin' shine you should love it
'Cause every time a door open for me that means you,
just got a better opportunity to do you
They don't understand these labels, look at numbers and statistics
I lose you lose, ma its just logistics
Anyway, real [bit*hes] listen when I'm speaking,
cause if Nicki win, then all of ya'll gettin' meetings
Ask L.A Reid, ask Jay
Then hit up Universal see what Silvia Ron say
Ask Grey Colmen you can ask Chris
Lady when your done just salute a bad bitch
Only underground [bi*ch] around thats duckin' the papparazzi
in and out of town be swervin' in the maserati.
Stayin round the white like the Nazi's
cause they [pu**y] pu-pu-pu poppin'on the [co*k] so the cops see
[bit*hes].

[ Chorus ]

Still I rise, Still I fight, Still I might crack a smile
Keep my eyes on the prize, see my haters tell 'em hi
One day you'll remember this
One day when we reminisce
Nothing I do ever is,
good enough for the music bizz
Still I rise, Still I fight, Still I might crack a smile
Keep my eyes on the prize, see my haters tell 'em hi
One day you'll remember this
One day when we reminisce
Nothing I do ever is,
good enough for the music bizz.

Victoria's feedback: I think the overall message of this song is that we are all women and we're all in "the same boat" so we need to stop trying to bring each other down all the time. We will get no where if we continue doing so.

Paraphrasing my favorite part of this song: "Bit*ches is like crabs in a bucket, you see a bad bitch gettin shine....you should love it. Because everytime a door open for me that means you just got a better opportunity to do you. But they don't understand these labels look at numbers and statistics,I lose you lose ma,its just logistics."

Women are like crabs in a bucket(metaphor meaning that when more than one share a bucket, none can get out. If one crab elevates themself above all, the others will grab this crab and drag'em back down to share the mutual fate of the rest of the group.) if you see a girl who is getting praise, you should be happy for her because everytime opportunites arise for her;it opens up opportunities for you. But they don't understand all these labels, they need to look at proven numbers and statistics "I lose, you lose" it's that simple.

Why this song should go down in hip-hop history:

I think that this song should go down in hip hop history because it's very unique. Although, the topic of jealousy is nothing new to the hip hop world but it's the way that Nicki uses her metaphors that makes it unique. This song really makes you think about alot of things. it makes you realise how destructive jealousy can be for all of us. There are way more important things to focus our time and energy on. Why do some still insist on hurting each other when they can be bettering themselves?

I love how Nicki Minaj uses the view of a "hater" in her first verse of the song. It gives you an insight into how pathetic some people can be when others are succeeding. I've never heard a song do that before. It makes you take notice and listen to the rest of the song, just to understand why she's talking so badly about herself.

The most powerful thing about this song is how empowering it is "Still I rise" means even though all this negativity is around "Still I fight, still I might crack a smile,[I'll still]keep my eyes on the prize." Nicki keeps her faith and confidence alive, when most of the world is dissing her. She says "one day you'll remember this, one day when you reminisce...nothing I do ever is good enough for the music biz." She basically means(based on her tone of voice) she's succeeding now and someday soon all of the people who shamed her will be sorry and that you can't please everyone so just be happy with yourself.
