Culture

WHAT IS CULTURE?

Culture can be defined as all the ways of life including arts, beliefs and institutions of a population that are passed down from generation to generation. It has been called "the way of life for an entire society." As such, it includes codes of manners, dress, language, religion, rituals, norms of behavior such as law and morality, and systems of belief as well as the art. It also involves the coming together of different ethnic groups, religion, age, sharing the same idea and belief as one.

People say art is culture and creativity.Culture and creativity are all one. Talents are also part of what makes culture such as dance, music (hip-hop), e.t.c.

As you can see in the pictures, those are art works and they are used in explaining what culture is all about. The pigmentation of various hands holding the globe shows their "one belief" and purpose to save the world. It also shows the multiplicity of races. What I'm trying to implement here is that, daily activities, behaviors, expressions acted upon in our lives are all within the boundaries of culture.

what is culture?

I believe what defines culture is the experience of people in a particular place, day and era. An example of this would be urban america where the day and times are filled with people young and old living in a state of economic depression and leads to several depressing situations. Like massive murders of youth, poverty stricken comuntes, and massive unemploement.

One of the lines in Marvin Gayes song "what's goin on?" says brother, brother, brother there's far to many of you dieing and mother mother mother far to many of you crying we've got to find a way for some understanding today. This song was talking about a time of war in Vietnam and now this same song is relevant to today because of the war that has been raged in urban comminities that is taking the lives of young african american boys and girls daily. It is amazing how the lyrics of a song can dipict the nature or reality that speaks to the lives of people from generation to generation.
