Wale-The Problem
Intro:This is but a mere portion of a semi-important life
Far from a complaint, but a mere look at the present showing you the changes that I made
The proverbial lemonade that I made
I made my mistakes, you see life's lemons often times come in a abundance,
In conjunction with the pressure that we're under
Underrated some would say, hated, and some say it's the things I say or how I say em.
And I admit, in this race I tend to struggle to relate in words
It's like I'm an alien who alienates by the herd, so as far as being heard
I guess I gotta wait, deprived by the station's eye
Wale, more times than not, am not for whom the air waves
Thank God for the free thinkers, for you keep me in mind,
In this state of mind that I'm in, for you keep me in the race with the baton that yall give
And they hype beat, street wear, Versace and Vuitton that I'm in
And really don't matter unless yall comin with
No days off, may we rip the face of the whole game off,
I'm gon say it to yall, I'm gonna put my faith in yall when I don't understand me
They say I'm runnin hip-hop but I'd rather unify with yall then stampede
And lastly for everybody who doubted I can't live without you, please
Continue to inspire the fire that is my re-dedication to greatness yall
Paint a picture to A.D. to freestyles to famous songs we out 'chere
Unforgettable gestures, unmeasurable effort, to pleasure the masses with impeccable work ethic
Let's get it, I go hard, no days off
Paint on my face, layin back rollin the J
Feelin like these rap niggas aint as real as they say
That's why I keep my friends limited, Keep them hoes interested
Resented by the game like I'm Pete Rose in this bitch
Ain't nothin stoppin us, tell you what the problem is
I'm on top of my game but these niggas won't acknowledge it
So a nigga hungry as a plastic hippopotamus
So stoppers better take it in the blood like a phlebotomist
Verse 1:I walk around understandin the politics
Wish you niggas father understood where the condom was
'06 came, had all kind of buzz, and Isaiah say one day your time will come
Then '09 came, them bad record sales, the silver-linin couldn't find him up on any shelf
I'm in the mirror like "this a product of my skills?" and I fear that my fans say I failed
It's just my fate, lemme chill, nah flip, my shit was submarine like, under ship
Look at what I'm up against, scrutiny, criticism, everybody judgin off a single I ain't even pick
Now my eyes Chinese, keep the lau in, now I'm takin these pills and I aint even sick
Ice and Rain, Letter, Center of Attention, I wanted them on my debut, but they aint wanna listen
You know I love my team, but they couldn't see my vision,
Interscope is my fam, so I ain't tryn make no issue
I'm just tryin to paint that picture, When I'm rhyming up in this booth
Imma try to rhyme and get through, but I'm documentin the truth
Men lie. Women lie. Numbers won't forsaken, the only album flop is the album niggas hate so
A.D. two, oh no way, let's do this and God willin' niggas gonna triple up the munnies
Triple up the munnies, wisdom is improvin, if no one's there to listen guess I'll put it in the music
Triple up the munnies, wisdom is improvin, I'm headin to Vienna since yall niggas ain't doin shit
My Thoughts: I think Wale's overall message in this song was to give people a insight of what he had to go through on a day-to-day basis with the industry. The name of the song really speak for itself he has a problem with the way people perceive him and how the industry is all messed up. My Favorite line was "I'm just tryin to paint that picture, When I'm rhyming up in this booth
Imma try to rhyme and get through, but I'm documenting the truth". He is saying that unlike many rappers what he speak is real and you can sorta of hear his realness. This is my favorite song on his mixtape

Hip Hop News Post
This article grasped my attention from the title alone, "City Helps Preserve Hip-Hop's Humble Legacy in the Bronx". So as I read into the article further I realized this project building in the Bronx was a monument to hip hop in their community. A man by the name of Clive Campbell a.k.a. DJ Kool Herc first set up the turntables and guitar amp that gave life to what is known now as the sound system and hip-hop music. He rocked many crowds in that basement and wanted to continue his legacy for many years to come for are future generation of children growing up in this community. But after the building became a poor in living conditions for the tenants the city wanted gentrification to not only the building but the community. So once this happen Mr. Campbell took the initiative to get support from the Senator and other important people to help support re-building the the building that was ver costly. After all the support the building is still standing and holds a every year "Back to school Jam" for the children. This is a way how Hip hop is still powerful today in a positive way. The writters attitude toward the event was positive because he put the spotlight on how hip hop help keep this commmunity together and keeping it's legacy alive and giving back to community as well. I feel that the author has a deep relationship with hip hop after reading between the lines of the article because he choose this as a subject to speak on and his tone was very respectful of hip hop and giving enlightenment on the history of this building and hip hop and the community of South Bronx.
This event is a great way to show that all hip hop music is not a contributing influence in black ghetto dysfunctional culture. Shows the light on a communit dealing with poverty and with help of people in the community and positive followers and money that things can work out for the better. They had a leader of the building who is a historian of hip hop DJ Kool Herc and he got the positive leaders of the community the Senator and city council to help support the movement of keeping this hip hop monument in the basement because it creates a place for the children of the community to come and be off the street. So this event proves the myth to not be fictional, and that hip hop has a positive influence in many people's life.
"The Jefferson's Theme Song"
"Well we're movin on up, To the east side. To a deluxe apartment in the sky. Movin on up To the east side. We finally got a piece of the pie. Fish don't fry in the kitchen; Beans don't burn on the grill. Took a whole lotta tryin' Just to get up that hill. Now we're up in teh big leagues Gettin' our turn at bat. As long as we live, it's you and me baby There ain't nothin wrong with that. Well we're movin on up, To the east side. To a deluxe apartment in the sky. Movin on up To the east side. We finally got a piece of the pie."

What is culture?
Olive Harvey Image and Rhyme Post
But I'll try to describe them in what will come next
Those of you who say a phone's purpose should be
What motivates studying its workings, I see
Why you do, but must say I disagree
Pedagogical logic's just at odds with me
A fact in mathematics, wherever you find it
Is not of much interest without what's behind it
It's not just about getting through one more class
Whether you fail a test, or whether you pass
You may have that mentality, but it's a reality
Some people don't think that way, I am one as you'll see
When it pertains to the subjects of math
And science which I am connected to past
What is said in the lessons which go by so fast
I will now shift my focus to studying science
An endeavor on which I put much reliance
That broad term refers to such disparate topics
As microbiology, ecology, and optics
But whichever you take, there is a debate
Over different approaches, and I can state
That the general consensus as of this date
Is experiments with methods already in place
My Thoughts as an Outsider.
* If I was an outsider, I wouldn't think negative of the lyrics. The lyric points out facts about school reality in relation to science and thoughts about science. And in that case, it is educative and serves as a form of advice to students. With this lyrics having posted by a student of the college, I would be interested in knowing more about the college and its students. The lyrical value of this rap lyrics is safe. It has no contribution to the black ghetto dysfunctional group. It has no form of deviation from the norms of social behavior in a way regarded as bad.
Lupe Fiasco - He Say She Say
"He Say She Say"
(feat. Gemini, Sarah Green)
(chorus)
I can't, I won't, I can't, I won't
Let you leave
I don't know what you want
You want more from me?
She said to him
"I want you to be a father
He's your little boy and you don't even bother
Like "brother" without the R
And he's starting to harbor
Cool and food for thought
But for you he's a starver
Starting to use red markers on his work
His teacher say they know he's much smarter
But he's hurt
Used to hand his homework in first
Like he was the classroom starter
Burst to tears
Let them know she see us
Now he's fighting in class
Got a note last week that say he might not pass
Ask me if his daddy was sick of us
Cause you ain't never pick him up
You see what his problem is?
He don't know where his poppa is
No positive male role model
To play football and build railroad models
It's making a hole you've been digging it
Cause you ain't been kicking it
Since he was old enough to hold bottles
Wasn't supposed to get introduced to that
He don't deserve to get used to that
Now I ain't asking you for money or to come back to me
Some days it ain't sunny but it ain't so hard
Just breaks my heart
When I try to provide and he say 'Mommy that ain't your job'
To be a man, I try to make him understand
That I'm his number one fan
But its like he born from the stands
You know the world is out to get him, so why don't you give him a chance?"
So he said to him
"I want you to be a father
I'm your little boy and you don't even bother
Like "brother" without the R
And I'm starting to harbor
Cool and food for thought
But for you I'm a starver
Starting to use red markers on my work
My teacher say they know I'm much smarter
But I'm hurt
I used to hand my homework in first
Like I was the classroom starter
Burst to tears
Let them know he see us
Now I'm fighting in class
Got a note last week that say I might not pass
Kids ask me if my daddy is sick of us
Cause you ain't never pick me up
You see what my problem is?
That I don't know where my poppa is
No positive male role model
To play football and build railroad models
It's making a hole you've been digging it
Cause you ain't been kicking it

I don't deserve to get used to that
Now I ain't asking you for money or to come back to me
Some days it ain't sunny but it ain't so hard
Just breaks my heart
When my momma try to provide and I tell her 'That ain't your job'
To be a man, she try to make me understand
That she my number one fan
But its like you born from the stands
You know the world is out to get me, why don't you give me a chance?"

"My Thoughts"
Lupe Fiasco's lyrics are miraculos, his music and verses definitly make you think about a situation your in or one you can relate too. In the video "He Say She Say" the mother and her child are demanding for the father to stay at home, never leave. This song carries a very strong message to father's all over; be a man to your child/ren stop walking away.Unfortunately because the father is absent, mentally the child is absent too.He began to mess up in school, stop handing in his homework, grades droped, and fighting was an option almost everyday. Lupe is speaking about thousands of children in this song who are suffering because their father's walked out on them, or they've never even met them before.
This song should go down in hip-hop history because it's a wake-up call, a cry out for help to all men creating these precious babies and for the father's who choose to walk away from them.

What is Culture??
culture in my own words is what people are adapt to and what enviroment people are raised in. Culture is the knowledge, experience, beliefs, values, attitudes, meanings, hierarchies, religion, notions of time, roles, spatial relations, concepts of the universe, and material objects and possessions acquired by a group of people during dufferent generations in life. many peeople differ in culture meaning they may value something that we may not value. when we talk about culture it also means what we may think is correct, right or wrong the other person from another culture may not because how that person was brought up to believe in
Drake " Say u Will " Lyrics
Drake - Say You Will Lyrics
Say You Will Lyrics
why do i feel so alone
like everybody passing through the studio
is in character as if we acting out a movie role
talking bullshit as if it was for you to know
and i don't have the heart to give these
bitch ass niggas the cue to go
so they stick around kicking out feedback
and i entertaining as if i need that
i had a talk with my uncle and he agreed that
my privacy about the only thing i need back
but its hard to think of them polite flows
mr. fano poloto suits on your night clothes
and jordan sweat suits are your flight clothes
and you still make it even when they say your flight closed
eyes hurting from the camera phone light shows
life was so full
now this shits just been light pole
always said i'd say it all on the right track
but in this game u only lose when you fight back
black diamond bracelets
showing you the basics
i can't live and hold the camara
someone gotta tape dis
i make hits and like a bitch
just married i ain't miss
24 hours from greatness
i'm that close to
don't ever forget the moment
you began to doubt
transitioning from fitting in to standing out
los angeles, cabanas or atlanta south
watchin Hov shows
embarrassed to pull my camera out
and my mother embarased
to put my phantom out
so i park about 5 houses down
she said i shouldn't have until i have the crown
but i don't wanna feel the need to wear disguises around
so she wonder where my mind is accounts in the minus
but yet i'm rolling round the fuckin city like your highness
got niggas reactin without a sinus
cause what i'm working with is timeless
and promoters trying to get me out to they club
and say i have fun but i can't imagine how
cause i just see my ex-gurl
standing with my next gurl
standing with the gurl that i'm fuckin right now
and shit could get weird unless they all down
and so i stay clear
we from a small town
and everybody talks and everybody listen
and somehow the truth just always comes up missing
i've always been something dat these lables can't buy
especially if they tryin to take a peice of my soul
and Sylvia be tellin Tez "damn drake fly"
and he just be like "silly mother fucker i know"
that was your bad
how could you pass up on him?
he just take the records
and he gas up on em
wayne will prolly put a million cash up on em
surprised no one ever put your ass up on him
oh they did Po at least they tried to
and thats what happens
when you spitting whats inside you
but slip up and shoot the wrong fucking video
and they think they can market you
however they decide to naww
before they told me to do me
and don't listen to anybody that knew me
cause who of known me would
mean that theres a new me
and if you think i've changed in the slightest
could of fooled me
and to my city i'm da 2-3
drug dealers live vicariously through me
i quit school and is not because i'm lazy
i'm just not the social type
and campus life is crazy understand
i could get money with my eyes closed
lost some of my hottest versus down at cabo
so if you find a blackberry with the sides scroll
sell that mothafucka to any rapper that i know
cause they need it much more than i ever will
i got new shit
i'm gettin better still
little niggas put my name in their verses
cause they girlfriend put my ass on a pedestal
future said cause its ye shit you better kill
and i think its got them making of a legend feel
problem with these other niggas they
ain't never real
yea ... thats all i can say

What Is Culture?
There’s absolutely no way around culture it’s indispensible. No matter how hard people try no one can ever maneuver without culture. It helps us to understand one another, the notion of socializing, and it also teaches us how to endure trials and tribulations. I think discipline plays a crucial role in culture. People express their feelings and struggles through reading, writing, and music. It helps provides us with different aspects of life, whether there right or wrong.
Everyone is different in their own way and culture is the tool we use to understand each other. Culture is also pervasive, its presence is everywhere. Books, fashion, art, religion, food and even language are areas of thrust. Take for instance this blog “One Mic, One World,” we’re reading each other’s outlook on the same subject, and yet we have different opinions. Quality, experience, and perception contribute to culture. It’s a process in which we develop knowledge about different ethnic backgrounds.

Lyrics from- http://www.azlyrics.com/
I think the overall message or point of this song is to show progresssion as he put in the song. Also to show that it is more to rapping then just rapping, having political connections, meeting with Oprah. To me it showed change.!
The best line to me..
Baby i’m a boss, i dunno what they do,I don’t get dropped, I dropped the label,World can’t hold me, too much ambition, always knew it’d be like this when I was in the kitchen.
He's saiding he do what ever he want, he dont know about nobody else. He could never get drop from a label, he'll just drop them. Nobody can hold him down he has to much determination to succed, he always knew he would be sucessful even when he cooking up the dope....
The chorus is saying: He got alot different ways of getting money, saying rapping is that the only way he make money. You as the listener choose one, But as you do he will be on to the next one, meaning moved on to something new.
This song is important to me because it shows progression, from being a rapper to a business man. I think this song should go down in hip hop history because, it will give alot of people that listens to his music encouragement to be sucessful in life.

lyrics source-http://www.directlyrics.com/bob-airplanes-lyrics.html
Can we pretend that airplanes
In the night sky
Are like shooting stars
I could really use a wish right now (wish right now, wish right now)
Can we pretend that airplanes
In the night sky
Are like shooting stars
I could really use a wish right now (wish right now, wish right now)
Yeah
I could use a dream or a genie or a wish
To go back to a place much simpler than this
Cause after all the partyin' and smashin' and crashin'
And all the glitz and the glam and the fashion
And all the pandemonium and all the madness
There comes a time where you fade to the blackness
And when you're staring at that phone in your lap
And you hoping but them people never call you back
But that's just how the story unfolds
You get another hand soon after you fold
And when your plans unravel
And they sayin' what would you wish for
If you had one chance
So airplane airplane sorry I'm late
I'm on my way so don't close that gate
If I don't make that then I'll switch my flight
And I'll be right back at it by the end of the night
Can we pretend that airplanes
In the night sky
Are like shooting stars
B.o.b. Airplanes lyrics found on http://www.directlyrics.com/bob-airplanes-lyrics.html
I could really use a wish right now (wish right now, wish right now)
Can we pretend that airplanes
In the night sky
Are like shooting stars
I could really use a wish right now (wish right now, wish right now)
Somebody take me back to the days
Before this was a job, before I got paid
Before it ever mattered what I had in my bank
Yeah back when I was tryin' to get into the subway
And back when I was rappin' for the hell of it
But now a days we rappin' to stay relevant
I'm guessin that if we can make some wishes outta airplanes
Then maybe yo maybe I'll go back to the days
Before the politics that we call the rap game
And back when ain't nobody listened to my mix tape
And back before I tried to cover up my slang
But this is for the Cada, what's up Bobby Ray
So can I get a wish to end the politics
And get back to the music that started this sh-t
So here I stand and then again I say
I'm hopin' we can make some wishes outta airplanes
Can we pretend that airplanes
In the night sky
Are like shooting stars
I could really use a wish right now (wish right now, wish right now)
Can we pretend that airplanes
In the night sky
Are like shooting stars
I could really use a wish right now (wish right now, wish right now)
Explainantion:
I like this song because the girl singing the chorus {Haley Williams} is the lead singer of a rock band called "Paramore" .i like how more hip hop artists are doing this sort of "cross over" music with artists of other genres. these lyrics communicate to me that there was a time when people didt have to sell out to be famous .the fact that "airplanes "are used as "luck symbols" shows that the artist is seeking salvation of some sort. though there is cursing in the some i think this song has an overal positive overtone and message.

[Lil Wayne]
Throw dirt on me and grow a wildflower
But it's "fuck the world," get a child out her
Yeah, my life a bitch, but you know nothing 'bout her
Been to hell and back, I can show you vouchers
I'm rolling Sweets, I'm smoking sour
Married to the game but she broke her vows
That's why my bars are full of broken bottles
And my night stands are full of open Bibles
I think about more than I forget
But I don't go around fire expecting not to sweat
And these niggas know I lay them down, make their bed
Bitches try to kick me while I'm down, I'll break your leg
Money outweighing problems on the triple beam
I'm sticking to the script, you niggas skipping scenes
Be good or be good at it
Fucking right I've got my gun, semi-Cartermatic
Yeah, put a dick in their mouth, so I guess it's "fuck what they say"
I'm high as a bitch; up, up and away
Man, I come down in a couple of days
OK, you want me up in the cage, then I'll come out in beast mode
I got this world stuck in the safe, combination is the G-code
It's Weezy motherfucker, blood gang and I'm in bleed mode
All about my dough but I don't even check the peephole
So you can keep knocking but won't knock me down
No love lost, no love found
[Eminem & Lil Wayne] Chorus
It's a little too late to say that you're sorry now
You kicked me when I was down
Fuck what you say, just (don't hurt me, don't hurt me no more)
That's right bitch, and I don't need you, don't want to see you
Bitch you get no (love)
You show me nothing but hate
You ran me into the ground
But what comes around goes around
I don't need you (don't hurt me)
You (don't hurt me no more)
That's right, and I don't need you, don't want to see you
You get no (love)
Bitch you get no (love)
And I don't need you
Get em
[Eminem]
I'm alive again
More alive than I have been in my whole entire life
I can see these people's ears perk up as I begin
To spaz with the pen, I'm a little bit sicker than most
Shit's finna get thick again
They say the competition is stiff
But I get a hard dick from this shit, now stick it in
I ain't never giving in again
Caution to the wind, complete freedom
Look at these rappers, how I treat them
So why the fuck would I join them when I beat them
They call me a freak because
I like to spit on these pussies 'fore I eat them
Man get these whack cocksuckers off stage
Where the fuck is Kanye when you need him?
Snatch the mic from him,
bitch I'mma let you finish in a minute
Yeah the rap is tight
But I'm fucking with the greatest verse of all time
So you might want to go back to the lab tonight and um
Scribble out them rhymes you were going to spit
And start over from scratch and write new ones
But I'm afraid that it ain't gonna make no difference
When I rip this stage and tear it in half tonight
It's an adrenaline rush to feel the bass thump
In the place all the way to the parking lot, fellow
Set fire to the mic and ignite the crowd
You can see the sparks from hot metal
Cold-hearted from the day I Bogarted the game
I so started to rock fellow
When I'm not even in my harshest
You can still get roasted because Marsh is not mellow
'til I'm toppling from the top I'm not going to stop
I'm standing on my Monopoly board
That means I'm on top of my game and it don't stop
'til my hip don't hop anymore
When you so good that you can't say it
Because it ain't even cool for you to sound cocky anymore
People just get sick cause you spit
These fools can't drool or dribble a drop anymore
And you can never break my stride
You never slow the momentum at any moment I'm about to blow
You'll never take my pride
Killing the flow, slow venom and the opponent
Is getting no mercy, mark my words
Ain't letting up, relentless
I smell blood, I don't give a fuck; keep giving them hell
Where was you when I fell and needed help up?
You get no love
[Eminem & Lil Wayne] Chorus
It's a little too late to say that you're sorry now
You kicked me when I was down
Fuck what you say, just (don't hurt me, don't hurt me no more)
That's right bitch, and I don't need you, don't want to see you
Bitch you get no (love)
You show me nothing but hate
You ran me into the ground
But what comes around goes around
I don't need you (don't hurt me)
You (don't hurt me no more)
That's right, and I don't need you, don't want to see you
You get no (love)
Bitch you get (love)
And I don't need you
Bitch you get no (love)
Message
Where the fuck is Kanye when you need him?
However, by this point in the album, Eminem has made it clear that he now respects Kanye & Wayne (see Talkin’ 2 Myself) and these lines are a clever plea for someone such as Kanye to come back into the spotlight and replace these “whack” less-talented rappers who are dominating the radio waves.

What Is Culture?
In relationship to this class hip hop culture has is highly unique and is internationally recognized. from my point of view i believe the most active participants of hip hop culture are the youth from ages 25 and younger.one major factor that identifies a person apart of hip-hop culture [or any culture] is material possessions and fashion.A culture may also poses controversial values and practices. In regards to hip hop culture many young men sag their pants and belt them below their waist, exposing their underwear. if asked they might say it makes them "look cool" when in fact they look ridiculously sloppy. Many young men are not aware what sagging pants represents. In jail if an inmate walks around with sagging pants that is a nonverbal invitation for sex.
A culture also has their own "idols" or celebrity figures. Tupac {second picture} is a prestigious figure in hip hop culture as well as many others.
Culture also has thier own forms of artwork .Hiphop culture is famous for the art of defacing public property known as "grafiti" [first picture] this art form although intricate and extraordinary is highly controversial.
To conclude, a culture is kind of many different "Worlds" inside The World all unique in its own way.
